1. Arachova and Agoriani
With a view of the snowy peaks of Parnassos, cosmopolitan Arachova is the most popular winter destination located also very close to Athens. A destination for all year round but in the winter that is snowy is at its best. Try the so many choices offered by restaurants, traditional taverns, bars, clubs and stroll the main street and the alleys to discover the village. You can visit the archaeological site of Delphi as well as Agoriani village to see the most picturesque square with the plane trees and the waterfall. The nearest ski resort is Parnassos.

2. Vytina, Dimitsana and Stemnitsa
Vytina is the most popular destination in Mainalo of Arkadia prefecture, a village dominated by the gray marble Agios Tryfonas church. Discover the taverns and the street of Love and visit Mainalo ski resort which is very close. You can also go on a road trip to the nearby Arkadian villages, in stone-built Dimitsana overlooking the gorge of Lousios and the old churches and Stemnitsa with the mansions.

3. Mikro and Megalo Horio in Evrytania
Two peaceful villages at the foot of mountain Kaliakouda, in a landscape with dense fir forest, literally in the mountains and in the valleys. Megalo Horio is well - known for its mansions, the stone-built square with the plane trees and the view, and for the wooden bridge with the waterfalls. It is located 14 km from Karpenisi and 24 from the ski resort of Velouchi.

4. Florina and Nymfaio
Two destinations near Thessaloniki that when they are snowy they are at their best. In Florina the scene with the river Sakoulevas is fantastic and you can sit there for food, dessert and coffee. The big attraction, however is Nymfaio, as it is one of the most beautiful villages in the world, a village that is so beautiful that it is as if it came out from a fairy tale. It is located at 1,350 meters altitude in a beech forest. The old stone built mansions are truly a feast for the eyes. At a nearby distance is the ski resort Vigla - Pisoderi.

5. Zagorochoria
We remain north, this time in Epirus, in Zagorochoria villages where you can combine them with Metsovo or Anilio ski resort. Because Zagori is big in size, to be closer to the ski resort I recommend to stay in central Zagori and in one of the villages Dilofo, Monodendri or Kipoi which are picturesque and peaceful. Better known than these three is Dilofo. On the way to the ski resort you can stop at picturesque Metsovo.
