If you haven't yet decided to visit Nafplio then watch our 1 minute video that will get you around to the best parts of the town. You'll see a series of photos with music.
Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece, from 1828 to 1833. It is considered to be the most romantic getaway from Athens, just 1½ hours away.
The architecture of the town is neoclassical, Venetian and Ottoman. The most important sights are 3 fortresses, Palamidi, Akronafplia and Bourtzi, while you'll see many old churches, a mosque and a madrasa (muslim seminary - it's Vouleftiko).
The town is literally full of history as the first pages of the history of modern Greece were written there. The first government, the first state, the first public services were established there.
In this video you'll also see the stunning view from Palamidi, the alleys of the old town, the sunset, the beach of Arvanitia and the seafront walk of the city.
