The coastal trail Arvanitia - Karathona
In beautiful Nafplio is hidden a wonderful nature-loving route that combines mountain and sea and is easy enough for everyone to walk.
At the beach of Arvanitia, outside the old town, begins the coastal trail that leads to the next beach of Nafplio Karathona. Tourists don't particularly know it but is popular to the locals when they want a peaceful walk in nature.
In order to access Arvanitia it is better to choose the uphill route from where the 999 steps to Palamidi fortress begin and not to get the round of Akronafplia since there are landslides.
So on the one side the mountain and on the other the sea begins at the foot of Palamidi mountain with the pines offering their shade, if the sea breeze blows you don't want to go back. You also look at the seascape against the backdrop of the Peloponnese mountains.
The whole trail is wide and smooth enough that you can cross it by bike.
Along the way the landscape changes, the trail goes down to the sea it has no trees except a few oleanders. You need to have a hat here. It also passes by a small pebble beach called Neraki.
The route is 45 minutes, with return 1½ hours. If you want you can continue in Karathona beach.
See below the photos I took of the trail.
