The 17 best restaurants in Monastiraki
After several strolls in Monastiraki I wrote the list with the best restaurants that I recommend you to choose. At the end of the list I have added four with international cuisine that are worth visiting.
1. Mystili
Food with fine ingredients and dishes with presentation are the diptych of Mystili. With quite a few meats on the menu, the ones I liked are the beef osso buco, octopus in vinegar and shrimp linguine. It also offers breakfast, sweets and organizes evenings with live music. It is in a wonderful location at the end of Hadrianou's pedestrian street overlooking the temple of Hephaestus and the ancient Agora.
2. Kuzina
Acclaimed chef Aris Tsanaklides proposes a culinary journey with greek cuisine with foreign influences. The options may be relatively limited but the choice is hard. On the menu, the brisket in oil pie, the grilled dentex and the saffran risotto stand out. The prices are somehow elevated compared to the rest of the restaurants in Monastiraki, but if you want something different, it's worth it. The terrace overlooks the temple of Hephaestus.
3. Theta
A menu with many dishes for all tastes: traditional appetizers, stews with sofrito of Corfu being for me the top, meat, seafood, meat varieties, seafood varieties, but also burgers, pasta and pizza. It also offers cocktails.

4. Stoa Attalos
Choose it for quality homemade food, for stews, meat, seafood on the grill. It offers classic homemade dishes such as moussaka, octopus, dolmades, steaks, ribs, spaghetti with minced meat. In a very nice location under the plane trees at the end of Hadrianou street.
5. Diodos
I think the menu is aimed at tourists but the quality and great location make you take notice. Rich menu with traditional appetizers, meat, seafood, meat variety, seafood variety. It also serves coffee, sandwiches, sweets, ice creams.
6. Sisinely
An all - day restaurant for breakfast and brunch as well as main dishes and cocktails. The main dishes that stand out are linguine with squid, moussaka in a clay pot as well as feta spring rolls.
7. Antica

14. Golden Haveli

It also offers a different version of dosa, the uthappam which has a resemblance to pizza. Also noteworthy is the indian version of the greek variety, thalis as it is called, another delicacy of south indian cuisine.
