The exotic Simos beach in Elafonisos, Peloponnese
A beach with natural beauty that words and descriptions are superfluous and are better to give way to photos. This landscape is located not on any well-known island but in the southern Peloponnese in the prefecture of Laconia on a small island called Elafonissos a breath away from the mainland coast.
The fine white sand and turquoise waters seem like they came from heaven. But the sand is not limited to the beach, it spreads all around creating dunes on which sea cedars grow, a landscape that is fantastic but needs our respect because it is delicate.

I also climbed the mountain that cuts the beach in two so that I could walk on the sand dunes and see Simos in a panoramic view.
Panoramic view of the beach. You can see the sand dunes with the sea cedars
There are sunbeds, a campsite, while the timeless value is Asimos bar. It is located at a distance of 4½ - 5 hours from Athens. For information on how to get there read my article how to go to Sparta and the destinations of Laconia.
