Excursion for swimming and eating at Kavouri beach
Vouliagmeni is a classic summer destination in Athens, and the first free sandy beach we come across is Kavouri, or Megalo Kavouri as it is called, in a bay with a wonderful exotic landscape.
A shallow beach suitable for families, with sunbeds but also enough free space to place your own umbrella. Some choose to sit in the grove under the shadows of the trees to be more comfortable.
The hotels I recommend in Kavouri:
- (€€€) Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso (⭐ 8,3)
- (€€€) Athenian Riviera Hotel & Suites (⭐ 8,6)
- (€€) Amarilia Hotel (⭐ 8,5)

If you get hungry you can eat at one of the two fish taverns, Maistros and Trypia Varka. In addition to seafood, they also serve some meat dishes. They are of course pricy as they are in every beach tavern in Athens.

The entrance for vehicles is controlled by a bar, they enter only if there is a free space for parking so that there is no confusion with vehicles coming and going aimlessly.
In addition, it has showers, a playground, a pedestrian path and overlooks the sunset.
The stone building on the islet is obviously a german pillbox, it is not the only one in the area, there are others.
To get there, if you are coming from Vouliagmenis Avenue, go through Poseidonos Avenue. If you are coming from Poseidonos Avenue, turn onto Aktis street, where the fence of Voula beach ends and turn towards the Apollon Hotel.
Below is a map with the location of the beach.
