In Antonis Tritsis Park, an oasis of greenery in Athens
The artificial lake in the park
An oasis of greenery in western Athens is the "Antonis Tritsis" Environmental Awareness Park that offers to the residents peaceful moments close to nature and an escape from the life of the capital. Because it is the largest park in Athens it offers a lot to the visitor.
The water dominates with three artificial lakes with aquatic vegetation, Kifisida, Acheloida and Korykia with the first two being joined by a canal. In the lakes children will be happy to see geese and sea turtles.

The park originated when, after the liberation from the Turks in 1828, the estates were bought and united by Greek and foreign landowners. Queen Amalia took a personal interest in turning it into a model farm, she expanded it and took care to be planted the trees we see today. It was back then that the first buildings and Queen Amalia's tower were built.
The park is located in the Municipality of Ilion. Its entrance is behind the Sklavenitis supermarket and there is also a parking lot. See the location below.
